Piecing the Trail to Kansas - a quilters journal #1 is the first in a new series of quilt patterns or books created from my interest in antique quilts & the stories of the women who made them. Conceived as a block-of-the-month (or chapter-a-month) quilt program, the story is about life on the Kansas prairie as seen through the eyes of a quilter, Lily Marie Hutchins. We introduce Lily & her family as they follow the wagon trains west from their home in Kentucky to homestead the wild prairie in the Kansas Territory during the 1850's. Our first Quilters Journal lets you experience the journey westward in a covered wagon as Lily makes a quilt to remember their trip & writes in her journal about the hardships & joy of beginning a new life in the wild west.
