Sandhill Plums
Our newest KT collection of Moda is Sandhill Plums - a group of warm, inviting greens, reds, navys, blacks, purples and golds with tan prints and tone-on-tone backgrounds perfect for your next quilting project. It was inspired by the row of Sandhill Plum bushes by the pond. Each spring, they are covered with delicate white blossoms that develop into tart, reddish-puple berries in the summer. In fall, the leaves turn a beautiful dark red for a splash of fall color. It's one of my favorite views out my studio window at the cabin. I helped my Gramma Ethel as a child pick the berries to make her delicious Sand Plum Jelly. As an adult, I realize that it takes more than 3x the amount of sugar to boiled fruit to make it sweet enough to eat. It was on our breakfast and holiday table every year. What memories to savor! I designed two delightful quilts with our new group. Plum Perfect features a Jelly Roll and Charm Pack to create a a generously sized lap quilt and pillow. Just a Little Loopy takes raw edge applique to the next level with loops of Honey Bun strips creatively employed as border elements, buttoned down for additional charm. Watch for Sandhill Plums at your local quilt shop in February.
